We're excited to announce that our students, Abhay Gupta, Philip Meng, and Ece Yurtseven have been accepted to the NeurIPS High School Track 2024!
They were selected as 1 of 20 spotlight projects out of 335 total submissions (~5% acceptance rate). Congratulations to our students for this remarkable achievement!
Their research, “AAVENUE: Detecting LLM Biases on NLU Tasks in AAVE via a Novel Benchmark,” develops a novel benchmark to evaluate biases in language models—specifically focusing on African American Vernacular English (AAVE)—addressing critical issues in AI fairness. This is following their acceptance to NLP4PI @ EMNLP earlier this month.
Being accepted into both EMNLP and NeurIPS—two of the top international conferences in NLP and AI—is an extraordinary achievement for high school students. We're incredibly proud of these students and our team for making this possible.
